Does year end have to be signed off by an accountant?

Does year end have to be signed off by an accountant?
A small un-limited company has never had the year end signed off or even looked at by an accountant...... for un-limited companies is this the way or should all year end go through an accountant? Is year end registered at companies house or is it for the Inland Revenue only. Thank you

Answer 1 :
No accountant is ever required for any type of trader But it is wise to use one for registered limited companies As you are not a limited company you do not require one Only Limited Companies, Public Limited Companies and Limited Liability Partnerships are regulated by Companies house. All other traders correspond with the Inland revenue only
Answer 2 :
If you're a Sole Trader or Partnership then the need to produce year end accounts is largely for personal use, unless you have investors too who will want to see some. Also producing accounts allows a history of the business to be built up should you wish either to borrow money or perhaps sell the business in the future. For a small one-man business you will account for tax via the self assessment system however an accountant may well save you money and be worth an investment to consider. Limited Companies in comparison MUST file accounts each year with Companies House. They are prepared to a particular format and for this you will need an accountant.

Answer 2 :
board at your local supermarket; now adays people want to post their resume on line but that's not always the best place to go - I don't really know how it would work in the London area
Answer 3 :
In London and the surrounding area there's a lot of business networking groups and events. Going to some of those and building relationships with people who deal with small businesses could attract you a lot more customers. It's worth talking to Business Link in London for information about their events. Many of them are free. Networking is not about pitching to your fellow networkers. It's about getting to know them and their getting to know you so that they're happy to refer you to their contacts. Good luck!

I want to be a home accountant, how easy will this be?
I understand what is involved in qualifying with the AAT and I understand I may have to work in a firm before becoming self-employed, is this right? How easy will it be to find clients?

I am graduating from college and will be working for a large acct firm. However, right now I work for a small in house acct, and from what I understand he initially started working a small firm and then opened his own practice. he gained clients from 'word to mouth.' join the cpa society, or other societies. its one client at a time.

Home Business for you ..... Free to join........ visit my website..... http://www.freewebs.com/fastearningmoney/ if any doubt pls scrap me.......... All the Best ....... Dont Miss it........
Answer 3 :
AAT is a good start to accountancy however you will not be chartered with this qualification and will be unable to sign off other peoples / companies accounts. After completing AAT you should probably be looking to do CIMA or ACCA to get your professional qualification in order to go 'self employed' and sign off accounts. You can get into ACCA and CIMA with a degree or other qualifications but if you have no experience in accountancy I would advise AAT as a starting point. Also, on cpompletion of AAT you get exemptions from the first section of CIMA & ACCA so this is another benefit. Out of the two, if you wish to go on your own once qualified, I would suggest ACCA. This focuses more on auditing and doing accounts for companies wheras CIMA is more management based and is more beneficial for financial controller / director positions that do the finance in house. Finally, how easy is it to find clients?............................. How sales focused are you? How respectable is your company? Will people refer you? Do you have start up capital? This is only something that you will know. Hope this helps.
