Answer 1 :
Apparently your friend had many dealing with large sums of money. The accountant is just ensuring that everything is legitimate.
Answer 2 :
Yes, when a certain income level is reached.
Answer 3 :
This happened to my wife a few years back when she opened an account with Bradford & Bingley. She was asked to produce a utility bill plus her passport. After giving this some thought she went back to the branch and demanded the copy`s they had made returned, which they did. They still gave her the account.
Answer 4 :
It is normal practice nowadays. Whether it is buying a house or opening a bank account you are required to provide proof of identification and in most cases proof of where the money is coming from. I have to provide the proof every year to my accountant despite having used them for at least the last seven years - it is the law.

Where can I find character art for a dwarven bureaucrat/accountant?
Where can I find character art for a dwarven bureaucrat/accountant?
For a forthcoming RPG, I'm playing a dwarf who's a stereotypical civil servant pencil-pusher type. I'd like to illustrate my character with a picture but can't draw to save my life! Anyone know where I can find something that would fit the bill?

Would I still be an employable first-time Management Accountant at 34/35 years old?
Would I still be an employable first-time Management Accountant at 34/35 years old?
I wish to study for a CIMA qualification, though if takes 4 years to complete as generally anticipated, I would likely be 34 years old by the time I qualified. In such a competitive field, would I still be considered favourably for employment at that age, or are companies likely to go for younger professionals in their mid to late twenties. I just thought IĆ¢€™d gauge an honest opinion before embarking on such a huge commitment. Thanks.

Two words. Age discrimination. You do not have to tell them your age. There is no reason why a 34 year old shouldn't be employable as a first time Management Accountant. If you suspect there is any kind of discrimination going on, then you have rights and lots of them. Good for you... Go for it. :-) x
